The study of magnetic nanoparticles has been a very active research field due to many important applications such as drug delivery, imaging and hyperthermia cancer treatment [2]. Hyperthermia has been used for many years to treat a wide variety of tumors in patients and used as well as an adjunct to cancer radiotherapy or chemotherapy [3,4]. Its use is based on the fact that tumor cells are more sensitive to temperature in the range of 42–45°C (which yields necrosis, coagulation, or carbonization) than normal tissue cells. This temperature range has become critical for cancer treatment due to damaging the cancerous cells without altering the healthy cells by selective heating (up to 45°C) and controlling heating rate and time.

Induced tissue cell death by magnetic nanoparticle hyperthermia for cancer treatment: an in silico study

In this paper, we simulate magnetic hyperthermia process on a mathematical phantom model representing cancer tumor and its surrounding healthy tissues. The temperature distribution throughout the phantom model is obtained by solving the bio-heat equations and the consequent cell death amount is calculated using correlations between the tissue local temperature and the cell death rate. To have a...

Study on Fe3O4 Magnetic Nanoparticles ‎Size Effect on Temperature Distribution ‎of Tumor in Hyperthermia: A Finite ‎Element Method ‎

In recent years, Hyperthermia has been used as an emerging technique for cancer treatment, especially for localized tumors. One of the promising cancer treatment approaches is magnetic nanoparticle (MNPs) Hyperthermia. In this theoretical work, the temperature distribution of a common tumor over the different sizes of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles, namely 25, 50, 100, and 200 nm, was stud...

Thermosensitive gemcitabine-magnetoliposomes for combined hyperthermia and chemotherapy.

The combination of magnetic hyperthermia therapy with the controlled release of chemotherapeutic agents in tumors may be an efficient therapeutic with few side effects because the bioavailability, tolerance and amount of the drug can be optimized. Here, we prepared magnetoliposomes consisting of magnetite nanoparticle cores and the anticancer drug gemcitabine encapsulated by a phospholipid bila...
